Black Milk Halloween Release

Autumn has just started and I am enjoying the change of seasons. Personally it’s my favourite time of the year and I love how many brands bring out items specifically suited for this season. But with autumn starting it means that Halloween is approaching soon as well. Even though Europe doesn’t celebrate it that much (yet), it’s enough reason for me to dress up, make snacks and watch some scary movies.
The coming festivities also signal that it’s time for another Black Milk Halloween collection! This time the theme of the collection is Lady Anarchy and besides the usual scary prints, you can find some steampunk inspired pieces as well.

I featured Black Milk before and own quite a collection of items. And among the many fans of the brand (affectionately known as Sharkies) the Halloween release is one of the high points of the year. People start saving up beforehand so they can get their hands on items for both the Halloween parties as well as the rest of the year.
What I like about the Black Milk Halloween collection is that it features many pieces that you can wear throughout the year and it will still look awesome. And again in this collection there are enough pieces that you can dress up or down.
So here is a look at some of the collection and also the pieces that made it onto my “I have to buy this” list.

Gamescom 2015 Log

Gamescom 2015 has come and gone. And once again it was a busy week filled with games, meeting fellow gamers and a lot of information on upcoming releases.
There was so much to see and so much to do that we didn’t get the chance to see everything we wanted to. But on the other hand we did get to see a lot of new games that weren’t on our radar before and peaked our interest.
Overall it was a fun 5 days but at the same time very tiring and consisted of a lot of walking, planning and waiting in line. But hey you have to suffer a little in order to be one of the first to see or play a new title.

Wednesday:
Chardy and I were leaving from Utrecht with the ICE train from 08.30. For me it was a bit stressful as normally it takes me 45 minutes to get to the train-station in Utrecht. We even took extra time to allow for any trouble on our way but sadly there were several traffic accidents on the way which caused traffic-jams and the inner city of Utrecht was one big mess. I made it in time but without a chance to get my much needed caffeine.
Luckily the travel itself didn’t take too long and within 2,5 hours we were supposed to be in Cologne.

Status Update

Hello Everyone,
As you might have noticed this blog has been very silent for the past weeks. My apologies for that, but sadly I suffered from some severe health issues that escalated right after Gamescom. And matters went from bad to worse that even sitting behind a PC was not possible any more. For the past month I have been really out of it and things like gaming, reading, writing and all that stuff was no longer possible.

After some visits to the doctors and hospital, they finally found something that seems to work and can stop the issues I have. In the meantime I am slowly but surely getting back in shape and can get back to work and start blogging again. Full recovery might take awhile but in the meantime there is still plenty for me to do.
Starting next Monday the 28th of September I will be uploading articles again.
So sorry for my absence and I hope it won’t happen again.

My first article will be about Gamescom.
Here are two pictures I made while running around the premises.

The road to Gamescom 2015 – part 3

Next week I will be in Cologne at this time and walking between the many gaming companies who try to promote their games. To be honest, I can’t wait!
Like last year I will be attending this event together with Chardy. This year we will be staying for a couple of days so we have more time to look around Gamescom and Cologne. We found out that two days was nice but with the queues and the amount of games you had little time to actually take it all in and enjoy the event.

It’s is going to be a busy few days with lots to see and to do in a short time. So here are the plans we made so far.

I wish tag

I saw this I wish tag on a couple of Dutch blogs and decided to translate it and fill it out for my own blog.

If you could be anything you wanted to be, what would be your dreamjob?
Oh that’s a difficult one. I think a part of me would love to be a programmer in the gaming industry. But I know that’s notoriously hard to break into, and sadly in my own country there are not that many jobs available. When I was young I wanted to be palaeontologist or an Apache pilot but that was not happening for various reasons.
Programming in games always had my interest but when I went to college you either needed to go abroad or got to an expensive course to get the basics down.
So I chose to go for a different IT field.
My other passion would be having either my own small store in indie make up or be a make up/ special fx artist myself. Actually I am looking into following some small courses to get more familiar with cosmetics. Whenever I see the amazing stuff people come up with on the web I am thoroughly impressed. At the moment I have a small basic understanding but I am sure I need to learn so much more.
But having a small indie make up store on Etsy with solid scents, eyeshadows, lipgloss and more, would be a dream come true.

The road to Gamescom 2015 – part 2

Welcome to the second part of the “Road to Gamescom” series.
In this post I will talk about some of the other things that can be very handy for planning a trip to this (or future) Gamescom.  As it is such a large event it’s easy to get overwhelmed by all the possibilities and things you can do there.
Besides gaming, that is.

Gaming Backlog #2

As I previously mentioned in a post, I am still working through my gaming backlog. And I have to say I behaved pretty well the last few weeks and didn’t go too crazy at the Steam Summer Sale. Really… I only bought 8 games 😛
But new games means I need to finish older ones first. So it’s a perfect moment to see just how far I have come with my old list and make a new one for the coming summer months. I hope to have most of these done at the end of September which will leave me plenty of time to rank up in Warframe and soak up the sun, raid some bbq’s and enjoy some cocktails.

Last time my list had 6 items on it. I will briefly update you about which game I played and if I finished them all.
1. Walking Dead Season 1 – Sadly I didn’t finish this one. So I will move it to my new list as I did play a bit last night and it remains a gem.
2. Lost Eden – Finished this one! And once again I fell in love with the music which can be found here on Spotify.
3. Kingdoms of Amalur – Almost done with this one. I loved it and I am kinda sad that the studio has closed and we probably won’t see any new content or games in this setting.
4. Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare – I played a bit at my friends home but multiplayer isn’t my thing. I will focus on the single player missions for this in the coming time. Because storywise it seems like fun.
5. The 7th Guest – Finished! It was funny to see how I still knew the solutions to many puzzles even though it has been so many years since I last played it.
6. Bioshock – Finished this as well. And I thought the setting, the story and the music really worked well in creating a rather unique atmosphere. Can’t wait to start on Bioshock 2.

Now onwards to my new list!

The road to Gamescom 2015 – part 1

As some of you may know it is almost time for Gamescom 2015!
Gamescom is an annual event/trade fair in Cologne,  Germany and this year it will take place at the KoelnMesse from the  5th to the 9th August.
Every year hundreds of exhibitors meet thousands of gamers in a big event that last 5 days. This is one of the bigger events that we have in Europe and is often compared to the E3. But while the E3 is primarily for the press, Gamescom is primarily for the gamers and is open to the public. You can just buy a ticket and line up to see some of your favourite games and meet some of the developers.

On Gamescom there is plenty to do for everyone who is interested in videogames. You have game-developers showcasing their (newest) titles, competitions, e-sports but also big merchandise stands and gorgeous cosplay. So whatever your preference is, there is always something to do for you here.
The event itself is visited by thousands of gaming enthusiasts and every year the numbers of attendees and the popularity of the event seems to be growing. Which does make it a bit tricky to navigate the halls and make sense of it all.

So here is my “Road to Gamescom 2015” with some tips for everyone who is interested in attending the event.

E3 most wanted 2015

The past two weeks were quite busy for many gamers. Not only was the Steam Summer Sale in full swing, there was also a steady flow of news coming out of the E3.
Many of the big developers came out with new games or big updates of games that were already announced beforehand. So I have been keeping tabs on some titles and other titles were added on my E3 most wanted list.
I think it’s safe to say that the remainder of 2015 and the upcoming 2016 is going to be an exciting time for gamers.

So here are the games that were shown and are marked with “I need this” on my list. There are more  titles than the few I mentioned here but I chose to focus on the ones who have managed to grab my attention the most.
