Day Zero Project – the list
Around the start of 2016 one of my friends told me about the Day Zero Project and that she immediately thought of me.
As she explained to me she feels I still have a lot of stuff that I want to do outside of my current daily life but I never actually noted them down and always put them on the back burner as other projects and chores took over. There was a lot of truth to this and I agreed it had to change and I needed to start finishing up projects or get actually properly started on them.
Still the concept of 101 things to do in 1001 days seemed a bit overwhelming at first. So I read through the blogs of others who participated in the Day Zero Project and got inspired to not think too big. And after I saw the many diverse challenges and achievements that were uploaded daily on the Day Zero Project hashtags it led me to make a list of my own.
My first Day Zero Project list was made and uploaded to this blog in March of 2016, sadly things happened and never ever got started on the list. So with 2018 slowly coming to a close and 2019 about to start I decided it was time for another go and just revamped the list a little bit.
This is how the site explains it ; The Day Zero Project was created by New Zealander, Michael Green. The website grew out of a blog post in 2003 when he set himself a goal of completing a list of 101 goals in 1001 days. He received such a large response from this that over time he developed the idea into a social community project.
The Day Zero Project Challenge:
Complete 101 pre-set tasks in a period of 1001 days.
The Criteria:
Tasks must be specific (ie. no ambiguity in the wording) with a result that is either measurable or clearly defined. Tasks must also be realistic and stretching (ie. represent some amount of work on your part).
Why 1001 Days?
Many people have created lists in the past – frequently simple challenges such as New Year’s resolutions or a ‘Bucket List’. The key to beating procrastination is to set a deadline that is realistic. 1001 Days (about 2.75 years) is a better period of time than a year, because it allows you several seasons to complete the tasks, which is better for organising and timing some tasks such as overseas trips, study semesters, or outdoor activities.
Time to get started and make my own Day Zero Project list!

Irregular Choice Muppets
This past week it was time for the release of the Irregular Choice Muppets collection. As a big time fan of the Muppets this was a collection that immediately grabbed my attention. As always the Irregular Choice brand remains a popular one its is a perfect combination with the wonderful world of the Muppets.
They did some awesome collections with Star Wars and Alice in Wonderland so many were excited what they designed for the Muppets. This time not only did Irregular Choice Muppets collection have it usual share of shoes but also bags and matching tights were included. Time to see if the collection is as awesome as I hope it will be.

Comeback
Hello, it has been awhile and time for a bit of a comeback.
First of all my apologies for the sudden absence. Sadly life threw a curve-ball my way and it hit me square in the face.
Last year I got pregnant and what was supposed to be a pink fluffy cloud of joy ended up being one surrounded with issues. I was told to take it easy and assigned total bed rest in the hope that would clear or at least lessen some of the issues. Luckily it did the trick and the strong looming threat of a premature birth didn’t come to fruition.
So I am a mom now and it has been quite the ride. So far I have been enjoying (geek) parenthood a lot and I am slowly getting crawling out from under my rock.
But for now I am back, I am much healthier and look forward to blogging again. So expect some new articles to pop up soon!

Fashion: Black Milk Day vs Night collection
Another month and another geek worthy collection by Black Milk. This time we will be taking a closer look at the Black Milk Day vs Night collection which is all about the new DC film, Batman VS Superman. It is a small collection with only 10 pieces at this time, some of which are already available in other variations on the site.
But luckily it is just not all about the Bats and Supes, we get some nice pieces for Wonder Woman, Harley Quinn and the Riddler as well.

Review – Mass Effect Loot Crate
One of my most favourite game franchises is without a doubt Mass Effect. I have finished all the games multiple times and I just adore the story and the characters. Even after the mess that was the Mass Effect 3 ending I never really stopped loving the game.
So when it was announced there would be a limited edition Mass Effect Loot Crate, I knew I had to have it. The only thing that made me pause was the price but I decided to take the plunge and see for myself if it would be worth it. The total worth of the Mass Effect Loot Crate was to be around $ 150,00 with some exclusive items.
Loot Crates are pretty well known among geeks for their monthly subscription boxes. You take out an subscription for around $20,00/€28,00 every month, and in turn you get a box filled with themed items that retail for about $45,00 together. This can includes shirts, action figures, Funko’s and often these contents are exclusive to Loot Crate.
There are monthly boxes for Anime, Pets, Video-games and much more. And often they launch limited edition one-offs which contain more loot and are targeted at specific titles like Star Wars, Firefly, Mass Effect, Fallout and much more.
So let’s just see what kind of stuff it contained and if the Mass Effect Loot Crate really was my favourite Loot Crate on the Citadel.

Win or Die Collection by Geek Chic Cosmetics
If you have read some of my blog posts or follow me on social media you probably know I love make up. So when I heard about Geek Chic cosmetics and their Win or Die Collection it was no surprise to anyone that I had to have it. I mean, gorgeous eyehadows inspired by one of my favourite book and TV series? Yes please! And even better is that their products are Cruelty free, vegan and gluten free which means they are suitable for many people. So I looked around the site, fell in love and placed an order for the entire collection of the Games of Thrones inspired line.
Since the new season of Game of Thrones will be starting in April again, it is the perfect time to take a look at this collection and come up with some ideas to use them for the upcoming viewing parties.

Personal Update – Sick Cats
Hello everyone,
as you might have noticed there have been no uploads for a bit. I am truly sorry for that. But sadly life took an unexpected turn and we had to deal with a lot of terrible events and bad news which took a toll. But things seem to look up again and starting Monday there will be blog posts again.
The reason for my short hiatus was that all three of our cats became severely ill at the same time. They got a heavy case of Upper Respiratory Disease (Niesziekte) which wasn’t covered by the shots. One of the cats was already struggling with some weird symptoms and had seen vets for it already. But at one point the disease popped up and escalated, within a few days the other two were ill as well. We immediately took them to see the vets.
So the past few weeks I have been working, bringing my cats to the vet for extra check ups, giving medication and feeding them by hand. But even with hospital stays, Siamun didn’t make it and we had to let him go. He had been sick a few times before at his previous families and that took too large a toll on his liver. In the end it was just too much and we didn’t want to see him suffer. But we miss him terribly.
Chunky and Medano seem to be feeling better again and we hope they will be healthy again soon. I am keeping my fingers crossed but since we were quick it seems they might make it out without permanent issues. *keeps fingers crossed*
All I can say is be careful when your cat is sick and when you don’t trust it, go to see a professional.

Review: Max Factor Star Wars
When a new Star Wars film is released you just know that the stores will be flooded with new and exciting merchandise. Blankets, figures, books and even make up products are brought out to hype the fans for the new trilogy. So it came as no real surprise when the Max Factor Star Wars collection was announced back in October.
The entire collection has (only) three products. You can get a mascara, a gold coloured lipstick or a dark berry coloured lipstick. Much to my surprise there would be no nail-polishes or other lip colours and the entire Max Factor Star Wars collection is a limited edition.
It took some hunting in stores and some patience but I finally got my hands on all three products. So let’s take a look at them and see if the force is really strong with this collection.

Fashion: Black Milk Fantasy League
And we are back again with another cool and geek inspired collection from Black Milk. They have been featured before with their Doctor Who collection and many more.
Before Doctor Who the company had already released collections from Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter. Sadly most of the older items are discontinued and very hard to come by.
But as luck would have it we seem to get another shot at some epic Lord of the Ring and Harry Potter items. The new release takes the form of a “Black Milk Fantasy League” collection. This small release features a total of 8 pieces, 4 for each fandom. It will consist of only touchdowns this time, which are their version of soccer shirts. And instead of actual existing teams it will give you the chance for your favourite fantasy team. Ready to rumble?
